ARTIST BIO

Debora Masterson  is a writer, educator, producer, musician and Francophone. A Los Angeles native, she currently resides in Chicago’s vibrant Far North. Her career in the arts began in her youth as a dancer/singer. She was recruited by Sammy Davis, Jr. performing in major cities throughout the USA. She transitioned into the agency business setting up Working Artists Agency. WAA was the first boutique talent agency to represent post-production clients and expanded into developing film and television programs.

As an educator, she has taught tap, jazz and modern dance. With an MA in French, she taught high school, community college and adult French classes and tutored Nestle executives in accent reduction. She has taught presentation skills and business writing to CBRE management as a corporate trainer and taught a master class about the agency business at the Columbia College Chicago Los Angeles location.

She continues to play electric bass and sing in various musical groups.

Welcoming Debora Masterson to Episode 101 was an absolute privilege. Instead of a traditional music review, she gave our listeners a gripping, first-hand look at 1970s rock outfit Freedom Quest. As a background vocalist, Debora was deeply in love with the band's leader, Craig Ingraham. Hearing her recount their brush with stardom, and the undercover DEA informant who fractured their dreams and separated the young lovers, brought a hidden era of rock history to life.

We were equally spellbound by her novel, " Freedom Quest: A Love Story ."  Though fictionalized, the narrative beats with the heart of real events, tracking youthful ambition, Craig’s harrowing escape from a Hawaiian cult, and a wild twist of cosmic karma. Ultimately, the enduring, 26-year-delayed romantic reunion between Debora and Craig makes this a beautiful, redemptive read that we highly recommend to the *Derringer Discoveries* community.
